Powertrain

The Hurricane 4 Turbo represents the main powertrain development for 2026. This 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder employs Turbulent Jet Ignition technology, which ignites fuel in a small pre-chamber above each cylinder before expanding into the main combustion area. This process accelerates the burn and improves completion compared to traditional ignition systems.

The engine produces 324 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, maintaining 90 percent of peak torque from 2,600 to 5,600 rpm. A variable geometry turbocharger adjusts boost characteristics across engine speeds, delivering responsive power during acceleration while maintaining efficiency during steady cruising. The Hurricane 4 Turbo achieves an estimated driving range of up to 814 kilometres per tank and supports towing capacity of up to 2,812 kg (6,200 lbs). Assembly occurs at Stellantis' Dundee, Michigan, Engine Plant.

Base Laredo and Laredo X trims continue with the 3.6-litre V-6 engine carried over from previous years. The Grand Cherokee 4xe provides plug-in hybrid propulsion with a combined output of 470 lb-ft of torque. The Trailhawk configuration, exclusive to 4xe models, offers the lineup's highest departure angle and maximum standard torque specification.

Technology

The 12.3-inch infotainment system serves as the primary technology update for this model year. It integrates with smartphone platforms and provides access to navigation, streaming audio, and vehicle settings. An optional 10.25-inch passenger display allows front-seat passengers to access entertainment and information functions independently from the driver's controls.

Audio systems range from standard premium configurations to a nine-speaker Alpine setup on Limited trims. Summit models receive an exclusive 19-speaker McIntosh system that distributes tweeters, mid-range drivers, and subwoofers throughout the cabin for detailed sound reproduction across all seating positions.

Hands-free Active Driving Assist is available across the lineup, managing steering inputs on compatible roads when conditions permit. Night Vision technology uses thermal imaging to identify pedestrians or animals beyond headlight range. A 360-degree camera system provides complete perimeter visibility during parking or low-speed manoeuvring. An integrated off-road camera assists when navigating obstacles on unpaved surfaces. Three-row Grand Cherokee L models can be equipped with a rear-facing Fam Cam that displays backseat activity on the infotainment screen.

Traffic Sign Recognition and Intersection Collision Assist now come standard on Laredo Altitude trims, monitoring road signage and alerting drivers to potential intersection conflicts. A digital rearview mirror option replaces the traditional mirror with a camera feed, maintaining visibility when cargo or passengers obstruct the rear window.
